Adeleke Sets Benchmark APC Cannot Match, Says Campaign Spokesperson

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

A legal practitioner and spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Mr Pelumi Olajengbesi, has described Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, as a major political force whose performance in office continues to unsettle the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement, Olajengbesi said Adeleke’s emergence signalled a decisive shift in the state’s political direction, noting that his victory reflected the clear will of the people.

“Governor Adeleke remains the single biggest threat to the political survival of the APC in Osun State. He did not merely defeat them; he dismantled their hold on power and brought an end to a style of governance the people had grown weary of,” he said.

He added that the defeat of the APC and former governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, represented a clear and deliberate verdict by the electorate.

“The verdict was clear and unmistakable. Osun rejected the APC not by accident, but by experience. That rejection was rooted in hardship endured and a collective decision by the people to move forward,” Olajengbesi stated.

According to him, Adeleke’s leadership style, which he described as people oriented and result driven, has redefined governance in the state.

“What the APC fears most is a leader who is connected to the people, grounded in their realities, and committed to delivering results that can be seen, felt, and verified.
Governor Adeleke is not just governing Osun, he is redefining governance in the state,” he said.

Olajengbesi noted that despite inheriting significant challenges, the administration has recorded measurable progress in infrastructure, governance stability, and public confidence.

“These are not slogans; they are outcomes that the people experience daily. This is why the opposition is increasingly uncomfortable and desperate,” he added.

He also accused the opposition of attempting to discredit the government through various media platforms but maintained that residents remain guided by their experiences.

“They have assembled voices across radio, television, blogs, and social media in an attempt to deny what is obvious. But the people of Osun are not confused. They respond to falsehood with evidence, to propaganda with lived experience, and to distortion with truth,” he said.

Olajengbesi further maintained that the governor’s growing acceptance is based on performance rather than political engineering.

“Governor Adeleke’s growing acceptance is not manufactured, it is earned. His leadership has focused on rebuilding infrastructure, restoring dignity to governance, and renewing hope among the people,” he stated.

As political activities gradually build toward the next election, he said the choice before voters is becoming clearer.

“It is a choice between progress and regression, between performance and propaganda, and between reality and recycled failure,” he said.

He concluded that the governor’s record has set a benchmark the opposition has been unable to match.

“Governor Adeleke is not just a political opponent to the APC, he is the standard they have been unable to meet and the reality they have been unable to confront,” Olajengbesi added.
