Adeleke Confident of Re-election as Davido Rallies Support in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Tuesday expressed strong confidence in his chances of securing a second term in office, declaring that his re-election in the August 15 governorship poll is unstoppable by the grace of God and the people.

The governor made the remark while addressing leaders of the transport management system at the Government House in Osogbo.

Adeleke said the opposition’s efforts to discredit his administration would not succeed, insisting that residents of the state have resolved not to return to what he described as “the dark days.”

“Osun people have sworn not to go back to the dark days,” he said. “Those peddling falsehoods are labouring in vain.”

The governor highlighted achievements of his administration across key sectors, including education, health, agriculture, infrastructure and the digital economy, noting that the people remain the ultimate judges of his performance.

“The people are our witnesses when it comes to performance in office. Our government has positively touched all sectors and regions of the state,” he said. “Those claiming not to see our work will have the people to contend with.”

Adeleke further criticised the opposition, accusing it of attempting to destabilise his government through financial means.

“The opposition seeks to undermine our government through financial strangulation.
Despite these challenges, we have remained focused and continued to deliver on our mandate,” he said.

He added that those responsible for alleged mismanagement of local government funds would eventually be brought to justice.

“We are confident that those who diverted funds meant for the people will face the law. Osun will not return to the past,” the governor stated.

Popular music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, who accompanied the governor to the event, urged residents to support the governor’s second-term bid.

“My uncle has delivered, urge you all to go out and mobilise support for his re-election. It is in the best interest of Osun State,” he said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the motorcyclist’s wing of the transport management system, Sikirulahi Ayobami, commended the governor for various developmental projects across the state.

“We are enjoying your government,” he said, assuring that members of the association would continue to mobilise support for the governor across Osun State.
