Adeleke Mourns Owamiran, Describes Monarch as Symbol of Peace and Wisdom

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has condoled with the people of Esa-Oke in Obokun Local Government Area over the death of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, describing the late monarch as a symbol of peace, wisdom and selfless service to his people.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said the passing of the revered traditional ruler was a painful loss to Esa-Oke, Ijesaland and Osun State as a whole.
The monarch was reported to have joined his ancestors in the early hours of Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Reacting to the development, the governor said he received the news with sadness, noting that the late royal father dedicated his life to the progress of his community and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
“I received the news of the transition of the Owamiran of Esa-Oke, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, with a heavy heart. Osun State has lost a distinguished monarch and a father figure who devoted his life to the service of his people and the preservation of our cherished cultural values,” Adeleke said.
The governor described the late monarch’s reign as peaceful and impactful, adding that his leadership contributed immensely to stability and development in Esa-Oke and beyond.
“Kabiyesi’s reign reflected humility, maturity and an enduring commitment to peace and development. His wise counsel and stabilising influence will be greatly missed not only by the people of Esa-Oke, but by the entire state,” he added.
Governor Adeleke further commended the monarch’s contributions to communal harmony and the strengthening of traditional institutions in Obokun Local Government Area and Ijesaland.
“The late Owamiran leaves behind a legacy of honour, integrity and selfless leadership. His contributions to community development and the strengthening of traditional institutions will remain evergreen in our hearts,” the governor stated.
He extended condolences to the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Traditional Council and the entire Ijesa community, praying that God grants the late monarch eternal rest and gives his subjects the strength to bear the loss.
