Ijesaland Rallies Behind Adeleke as Opposition Support Wanes

Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed appreciation to the people of Ijesaland for their overwhelming support for his re-election bid, describing the turnout at a political rally in Ijebu-Jesa as proof that the opposition has continued to lose relevance among the people of Osun State.
The governor spoke on Wednesday at the inauguration of 10,000 Imole Canvassers organised by the Accord Party’s House of Representatives candidate for Ijesa North Federal Constituency, Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi.
Addressing supporters at the event, Adeleke said the large turnout demonstrated the growing strength of the Accord Party despite the recent defection of some elected officials.
He commended the people of Ijesaland for their continued support for his administration and the party, while praising Olajengbesi for what he described as a remarkable mobilisation effort.
“Let me commend the good people of Ijesaland, my own people, for coming out massively today to show that they are fully with us,” the governor said.
“This massive presence proves that Accord has become stronger despite the defection of some lawmakers.
“I want to applaud Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi for pulling a strong show under the leadership of Accord stakeholders in Ijesaland. He is the David of this generation, destined to defeat all Goliaths in the opposition party.”
Adeleke maintained that no amount of intimidation or violence would alter the support his party enjoys among the electorate, urging residents to participate actively in the forthcoming election.
“No amount of violence can change the love of the people for Accord. Let us come out on election day and vote massively. Our vote is our voice,” he added.
In his remarks, Olajengbesi, who also serves as spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, said the event was organised not only to inaugurate the 10,000 canvassers but also to demonstrate the support Governor Adeleke enjoys in Ijesaland.
According to him, residents of Ijesa North Federal Constituency believe that his election and the governor’s re-election would accelerate development in the area.
“I want to thank Your Excellency for honouring us with your presence. This event is put together to officially inaugurate the 10,000 canvassers we have assembled for your re-election and, more importantly, to show you that the people of Ijesaland love you dearly and are fully with you,” he said.
“The people of Ijesa North are aware that my victory and your re-election as governor of this state are the pathways to greater development and progress for our constituency, and we are solidly behind you.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Hon. Sunday Bisi, assured the governor of overwhelming support from Ijesaland in the forthcoming election.
“I want to assure the Governor that both Ijesa North and Ijesa South are solidly behind him. I assure you, Mr Governor, that your votes in Ijesaland will surpass those from Ede,” Bisi said.
Among those who accompanied the governor to the event were the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, Director-General of the Imole Campaign Council, Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, Yeyeluwa Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni, party leaders, and senior government officials.
