Stay Away From Council Secretariats- Osun Accord Warns APC ‘sacked’ Chairmen

• Charges Security to Ensure Smooth Resumption of Legitimate Chairmen
• Commends NLC/NULGE on Directive Taking Charge of Council Secretariats
The Osun State chapter of the Accord has warned sacked council chairmen to stay away from the council secretariats, expresses appreciation to residents who trooped out for the official flag-off of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election campaign in Osogbo on Tuesday.
The party in a statement by its Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande hailed the judgement of the Federal High Court, denying the prayers of the Yes/No chairmen, calling on the sacked chairmen to abandon their illegal actions on the local government leadership question.
“The Yes/No chairmen prayed the court to derecognise the 2025 local government election, invalidate the oath of office of the elected Chairmen inaugurated by Governor Adeleke in February, 2025, recognise their own election, to accept that their tenure was truncated and that they need to complete their alleged tenure, and for the police to continue to provide security for them. However, in a well-considered judgment, the Court refused all their prayers and asserted they have no legal foundation to file the case in the first place.
“We hereby warn the sacked chairmen to stay away from the council secretariats. We also repeat our governor’s directive to the police commissioner to stop protecting illegal occupation of the council secretariats. The duly elected council chairmen are now fully in charge.
Accord also commends the NLC and NULGE Osun State Chapter for issuing directives to their members to take charge of the Council Secretariats and Administrative Offices pending the legitimate resumption of the elected Chairmen, saying such directive is in order in the light of the reality on ground.
“The UBA should also use this opportunity to redeem its image by correcting the error in the opening of accounts for the local governments. This is the time for the bank to allow signatories prescribed by law to sign the local government accounts. The bank cannot afford to continue in criminal partnership with the court sacked chairmen”, the Party statement posited.
Accord further noted that the unprecedented turnout, coupled with the formal declaration of thousands of defectors from the APC, ADC, as well as endorsements confirmed that the people of Osun have embraced the continuity of good governance under Governor Adeleke. Osun is yellow and re-election of Governor Adeleke is a done deal by Gods grace.
The party chairman blasted the APC’s press statement on the rally, noting that Osun APC’s comedy script to describe one of the largest political gatherings witnessed in recent times as “scanty” exposes a party that has completely lost touch with reality.
“It takes a special kind of political blindness to witness roads flooded with supporters, see the mammoth crowd that occupied the campaign venue and adjoining roads, and still claim that nobody attended.
“Unlike the APC whose activities have recently been associated with violence, and attacks on innocent citizens, the Accord campaign flag-off was peaceful, orderly, and driven by genuine public enthusiasm.
“It is understandable because Governor Adeleke defeated them when their political house was supposedly formidable, and they are genuinely more worried now that their house is fractured, and deserted.
“Their leaders, members and defecting supporters know the truth. What happened in Osogbo was not merely a campaign flag-off; it was the official commencement of Imole 2.0 and a powerful demonstration of the direction in which the voters have chosen.
“Osun people have moved on accordingly, while the APC remains trapped in bitterness, excuses, and wishful thinking.
“It is particularly laughable that a party suffering from serial electoral defeats is advising Governor Adeleke to prepare a handover note.
“Unfortunately for them, every mentally stable resident of Osun can see the difference between a government focused on development and an opposition consumed by desperation.
“The APC should therefore stop insulting the intelligence of Osun people and end the manufacturing of false narratives to comfort its wounded ego. Tuesday’s rally sent a clear message across the state and beyond”, he added.
The party concluded that the people are firmly behind Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord, and the momentum is growing daily, and Imole 2.0 has begun.
