“APC Speaking for Gotan, Osun Police”, says Accord Chairman

Osun Accord has said that the All Progressives Congress has taken over the communication department of Osun Police Command under the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan.
In a statement on Saturday by Chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, the party accused APC of issuing a statement on behalf of the Police which was never shared on Police’s social media platforms while the Police issued another statement to cover it up instead of debunking it and arresting its impersonators.
Accord thereafter called on the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu to redeploy the Commissioner of Police stating that it has lost confidence in his ability to lead the command.
The statement reads, “Our attention was drawn to a release widely circulated by members of Osun APC purportedly written by Osun Police Command and signed by its Public Relations Officers, DSP Biodun Ojelabi with the heading, “Re: Recent Federal High Court Judgment in Osogbo Regarding Local Government” and Reference No: AZ: 5650/OSS/PPRD/VOL.11/206.
“We wish to state categorically that we are aware the release did not emanate from the Police because it was released by Osun APC Spokesperson, Kola Olabisi into some WhatsApp group and was never shared on all the official platforms of the Osun Police Command.
“It is however unfortunate and disappointing that instead of denying the statement and arresting its impersonators, Ibrahim Gotan-led Osun Police issued another statement on the same subject matter with the heading, “OSUN POLICE COMMAND URGES FOR CALM AMIDST RECENT FEDERAL HIGH COURT JUDGEMENT ” and Reference No: AZ: 5650/OSS/PPRD/VOL.T1/207.
“More disturbing is the fact that at no point in the second release did the Police reference the initial release or its content indicating that Police took ownership of a release that did not originally emanate from them and pointing to the fact that APC has taken over the communication of the Osun State Police Command.
“We condemn this action strongly and hereby call on the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu to once again pay keen attention to the conduct of his officers in Osun led by Ibrahim Gotan, who has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he is partisan and will continue to dent the image of the Nigeria Police Force.
“It is also instructive to note that the ruling of the Federal High Court was clear and direct, APC Chairmen remain sacked and cannot demand tenure elongation, so Police cannot call for calm where it should be helping to return normalcy to the Osun Local Government Secretariats by flushing out these impostors.
“We have lost faith in the ability of Ibrahim Gotan to continue to lead the Osun Police Command, he has continued to display incompetence and partisanship, we hereby request his immediate redeployment from Osun State.
“Osun state is a peaceful state before Ibrahim Gotan got here and will continue to be.”
