Former Special Adviser on Education in Osun state, Hon Jamiu Olawumi has said that Governor Ademola Adeleke did not sack any teacher, contrary to the claim by members of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

He added that by the time Former Governor Gboyega Oyetola was leaving office, the names of the supposed teachers recruited had not been processed by the Accountant General of the state because Governor Oyetola started the recruitment process one month before his tenure expired and failed to work with the incoming government.

Olawumi who stated this on Thursday while featuring on Channels TV Lunchtime Politics, stated that as Special Adviser to former Governor Oyetola on Education it was his job to oversee the recruitment process adding that the hurried supposed recruitment was a bobby trap for Adeleke’s government.

He said, “I was Special Adviser to the Former Governor on Education and I  oversaw recruitment of Teachers, our first memo to the government, 26 paragraphs memo, indicated that we have a shortfall of teaching staff to the tune of 12,500 but the Exco gave approval of 2500. We also sought concurrence of the House of Assembly to recruit 2500 teachers.

“Before the election held, we recruited 1,000, we had the Governors approval for 1,000 but amazingly, in all democracies of the world, when a government loses an election, the Government has become a lame dog and must seek concurrence of the incoming Governor before you carryout serious policy implementation, Governor Oyetola did not do that.

“And I think what is civilised politically when you are approaching an election is that you give jobs out to propel the people to love you and vote for you, he didn’t do this until he lost the election and then we were asked to recruit the 1,500 balance.

“We were doing this until the last month in office, when Oyetola has refused to sit down with the incoming Governor and setup transition committee and exchange ideas about how he has been running the Government, so there is no government that will not see it as a booby trap, when Late General Muhammadu Buhari won his election, he moved into Aguda house and he was taking briefs with Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the same thing Buhari did for Tinubu, Governor Oyetola didn’t do that, he was annoyed, he was angry and he became inaccessible to them, you can’t be leaving office in about one month and you are recruiting  1,500 teachers.

“The incoming Governor as at then was making radio announcements that he will not take such an appointment with which he was not carried along and after that this government came and he couldn’t have it couldn’t have recognised the 1,500 we took because the name of these new teachers have not even been processed by the Accountant General of the state as at the time we were leaving the office and Governor Adeleke has appointed 1750 to replace them.”
