Governor Adeleke Pledges to Support Women in Tech

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has pledged to support women in the Technology and Innovation sector in the state noting that it is part of his administration’s agenda to empower the people of the state.

He further stated that his administration is open to partnership from any willing individual, group or community that is focused on changing lives of the people and making Osun state better.

Governor Adeleke made this known in office in Osogbo on Friday while hosting the Osun Women in Innovation and Technology (WITO) led by its Team Lead, Edidiong Sebastian and its Secretary, Mary Omofoye.



He said, “I am happy to have you visit me and I am glad that something like this is happening as a result of our effort in improving the Technology and Innovation sector in Osun.

“I want to let you know that you have my support, we will do everything within our best to support women because when we do, we are saving the future.”

Earlier in her address, the Community’sTeam Lead, Edidiong Sebastian in her address noted that the reason for the visit is to intimate the Governor of the existence of the community as well as reveal the plan of the community going in to the year 2024.

She said, “We are here to thank you, Mr Governor, for being a tech supportive Governor and for everything you have done within the tech and innovation space of the state since you became Governor.

“Our community was born out of the efforts that we saw you are putting together in Osun state and we are here to also tell you our plans as a community.”

She further explain that community is planning to train atleast 3000 women in tech and digital skills before the year runs out.

Also in attendance were Hon Azeez Badmus, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation, Science, Technology and Digital Economy; Hon Bamikole Omishore, Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs; Sola Isola, Media Assistant (ICT) to the Governor, Rodiat Osuolale, Assistant Program Manager of the Community and Adeola Adeyemi, the Community’s Social Media Manager.
