Netizens Mock Oyetola over Comment on Osun PDP

0 0

Hundreds of users of popular social media platform, Facebook, have descended heavily on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy over his comments that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer exists in Osun.

While speaking at a reception to welcome Prince Dotun Babayemi and some of his loyalists into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, declared that the fortune of the PDP had nosedived in the state owing to the defection.

The comment however ignited backlash from many Facebook users who dismissed the declaration of Oyetola as self deceit in light of the political reality in the state.

Many contributors reminded Oyetola that the PDP is the ruling party in the state after defeating Oyetola as a siting Governor, urging the Minister to wake up to the reality that Osun people will not be ready to return to the ineptitude and bad governance that the past showed about the APC.

A user, Pelumi Akin Joel, fault the Minister’s declaration as a sad reflection of a politician without conscience, noting that “My concern is that people in this country have short memories. Isn’t it shameful that the same person who made Osun workers and ordinary people suffer is still brazen enough to come out and speak publicly, showing no remorse?”

Ambassador Segun PY Awhase in his comment wondered the basis for Oyetola’s comment, pointing that “Oyetola failed as Governor and he is doing same thing as Minister. Some people are born failure even if you put them into drum of pass they will still come out as failure.”

Oluwasheyi Elijah said Oyetola is not focused on his current job as Minister as his mind is still fixed on the job in Osun he lost about 17 months ago, stressing that “Mr former governor mind is in house of government in Oshogbo not in Abuja. But Mr Adeleke has come to stay…… Maintain ur office in Abuja sir”

Olawale Ayodeji shaded Oyetola as a failure whose only interest is power without fulfilling the responsibilities that comes with it while Olaotan Temitope, another contributor, saying “Have said it the other time, Tinubu must remove this man. He is not a productive minister at all. All his attention now is Government House, Oshogbo.”

King OJ, a Facebook user, insinuated that Oyetola confidence about returning to power in 2026 is not based on his past governance record in the state or that Governor Adeleke did not perform, but the belief that his Uncle, President Bola Tinubu, will manipulate the election in his favour.

“Do you know the meaning of these Yoruba words… Alaimokan, afofungbemu, onikatikati, sugomu ati oni sokuso.
Those are the perfect adjectives to describe anyone who says that as far as Osun Politics is concerned,” he wrote, adding that “Somebody that defeated you twice but you only regain one through court is the person you’re now saying does not exist. He is seriously depending on his uncle and the president Tinubu to win next Osun Governorship election in 2026 and we are seriously waiting for him and his balabulu team at the top, they will meet us well, hale and healthy. Osun people have completely rejected APC and their permanent defeat is near. May God spare our lives.”
