Eight suspects have been arrested in connection with the gruesome mutilation of a 16-year-old boy in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area.
The boy was reportedly lured into a bush at Arademi Area on July 26, where his attackers cut open his abdomen and removed his scrotum in a suspected ritual-related assault.
His cries for help forced the assailants to flee before bystanders rushed to his aid.
The teenager was rescued and taken to hospital for emergency care before being referred to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, while confirming the incident on Monday added that an intelligence-led operation led to the arrest of the suspects, including three residents of Apomu.
He added that other recent crackdowns have nabbed suspected cultists, armed robbery suspects, and persons caught with firearms or stolen property.
The police said all the arrested suspects will face prosecution once investigations are completed.
