Governor Adeleke pays 11th Month Half Salary Arrears, clears Contributory Pensioners Half Salary Arrears

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State have paid civil servants in the state the 11th month half salary arrears owed by previous administrations

The Governor had also cleared the salary arrears of pensioners owed by previous administrations.

Osun spring reports that there are 17 months more half salary arrears to be paid to civil servants in the state, bringing the total arrears to 30 months.

The payments cut across all sectors, including LGAs, tertiary institutions, core civil service, parastatals, and even political office holders at that time.

In a statement signed by Kolapo Alimi, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, the government accused past administrations of failure, stating that it was working to “right the wrongs of the previous administration.

“Governor Adeleke is a compassionate leader and doesn’t take pleasure in the pains of the people, more else, those who rendered services to the state.

“He’s paying the salary owed by the previous administration to bring relief for those owed and also to stimulate the state economy as those money ends up in the economy through the buying of essential needs.

“Paying this money means that the Governor prioritises the welfare of the people and always prepared to address failings of the past administration,” the statement read.

Reacting to the payment on social media, a civil servant identified as Obadare Olalekan confirmed receiving the payment while commending the Governor for not removing tax from it since it was taxed ab initio.

On his Facebook page he said, ” Yes, I received it early hour of today. The amazing part of it is that what I received today was 5k more than the first half paid by Aregbesola then. This suggests to me that Gov Adeleke did not remove tax for the second time”

Another Facebook user identified as Tobi Fadipe said in a post that his mother who is a civil servant asked him to appreciate the Governor adding that despite the withheld local government fund, Governor Adeleke have not defaulted in salary payment.

He said in mixed English, ” Dear Gov Adeleke My Mama say make I thank you o. She said despite the withholding of LG allocations by the Fed Govt since February, you still haven’t owed any worker for a month.

“And I come still hear say you pay another half salary. I am beginning to relate to how Lagosians got addicted To Tinubu all those years when OBJ withheld Lagos LG allocations.

“And the other day, I read about the reduction of our state debt by 65bn over the past 2 years. Considering where we are coming from, this is quite huge. Well done sir.”
