A new private radio station, Kings 87.9 FM, has officially opened in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

The station was commissioned yesterday, Friday, August 15, with top dignitaries in attendance, including Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji (represented by Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro), the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Olabomi, and the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola.

Governor Oyebanji described the development as a bold investment in grassroots communication and community growth.

He urged the management to uphold professional broadcasting standards as laid down by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

“The launch of Kings FM is a testament to how private enterprise can complement government’s efforts in promoting development and information dissemination,” he said.

The Aragbiji, Oba Olabomi, expressed joy that Iragbiji would now have its first radio station.

He tasked the management to use the platform to promote Yoruba culture, particularly the use of indigenous language in its programming.

Similarly, Oba Toriola advised the station to prioritise developmental content that would foster peace, encourage agriculture, promote technology, and sustain cultural heritage.

Chief Executive Officer of Kings FM, Mr. Abimbola Amusan, said the vision to establish the station had been in the works for more than a decade.

“We have overcome the regulatory and technical hurdles, and with this test broadcast, we are ready to serve the people ethically and professionally. Full operations will commence in the coming weeks,” he noted.

Also present was Mr. Olusola Amusan, CEO of Vesti fintech hub, who joined in unveiling the new broadcasting outfit.

Kings 87.9 FM becomes the first-ever radio station in Iragbiji.
