The Osun State Police Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the sudden death of a young lady, Miss Bidemi Omole, at her boyfriend’s residence in Esa-Oke, with an assurance that justice will be served.
The incident, which occurred on Friday evening in the Oke Esa area of the town, threw the community into shock.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the deceased had only just arrived at her boyfriend’s home when she suddenly took ill and began vomiting.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead before medical help could be administered.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, who confirmed the development, explained that the boyfriend, identified as Yinka, has been taken into custody for questioning.
He further disclosed that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the actual cause of death.
“The matter was reported to the command and we immediately opened an investigation. The deceased suddenly took ill and was rushed to the hospital where she died on the way.
The suspect is in custody, and an autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of death,” Ojelabi stated.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Osun State Government under Governor Ademola Adeleke commiserated with the family of the deceased and reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to peace, security, and justice.
A government source emphasized that the administration will continue to support law enforcement agencies to ensure that Osun remains a safe and secure state.
“The Adeleke-led government is committed to protecting every life in Osun. While we mourn with the bereaved family, we also assure the public that due process will be followed, and justice will be served without fear or favour,” the source said.
Residents of Esa-Oke have expressed confidence in the police investigation, noting that the quick intervention of security operatives reflects the Adeleke administration’s drive to maintain law and order across the state.
