Olaosebikan revealed that the EAA a component of ASUU agreement designed to compensate academic staff for excess workload caused by manpower shortages in universities, saying diverting any part of this fund for non-teaching staff constitute a breach of agreement.
“EAA is a component of the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement meant to settle works done in excess of our statutory duties due to acute manpower shortage in all Nigerian public varsities”.
Olaosebikan further revealed that the National Economic Council (NEC) has directed all branches to hold congresses and referendums to determine the Union next line of action.
“Consequently the UNIOSUN branch is presenting three options to its members: To proceed on a full blown, indefinite strike, to commence on a warning strike, to continue dialogue with government
“The result of that referendum is still on ground all branches of Asuu are directed to hold similar congresses simultaneously. As we are holding our congress here other branches are holding their congresses now, and we are asked to generate a resolution per branch, should the meeting of Thursday 28th August to the Federal Government should that meeting also fail to produce positive result. What will be the reaction of our Union to the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government towards organizations”, he added.
