Ora-Igbomina in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State came alive on Saturday, August 30 as dignitaries, indigenes and friends of the ancient town gathered to mark the 10th edition of Ora-Igbomina Day, which also featured a N100 million fundraising drive for community development.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his Special Adviser on Trade and Investment, Hon. Okanlawon Felix Olatunji, used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to the growth of the community.
He promised that the Ora-Igbomina Water Scheme would soon be completed to serve the people of Ora, Oke-Ila and adjoining communities.
The governor described Ora-Igbomina as a shining example of unity, resilience and cultural pride, noting that the government is determined to complement the people’s efforts with more dividends of democracy.
“This administration will not relent in bringing development to every corner of Osun State,” Adeleke said. “Beyond the water scheme, we are also extending the ongoing Ila-Orangun road project to the Kwara boundary to ease transportation and enhance economic activities.”
He called on the people to remain united and supportive of government’s agenda, assuring that brighter days lie ahead.
Chairman of the occasion, Bishop Felix Owolabi, represented by Engr. Olamilekan Omoyajowo, extolled the virtues of the community and backed his words with a N10 million donation, while also pledging personal support of N750,000.
Also present was Hon. Clement Akanni “Olohunwa,” member representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, who, through his aide Hon. Saheed Lamidi, commended the organisers and pledged N2 million towards the development fund.
Various families, compounds and associations also made contributions to support projects in healthcare, education, youth empowerment and road rehabilitation.
In his royal address, the Akesin of Ora-Igbomina, Oba Samuel Oladoye Idowu, expressed gratitude to dignitaries, donors and well-wishers, pledging to continue steering the town towards becoming a model community where culture, infrastructure and human capital thrive together.
The colourful event was spiced with traditional dances, cultural displays and musical performances, making it both a homecoming and a rallying point for unity and collective progress.
