Osun Police Reacts to Viral Video of Bandit Attack

0 0

The Osun State Police Command yesterday dismissed a viral video suggesting that bandits had attacked a community in the state.

The command described the clip, which has been widely shared on social media, as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic among residents.

Police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi, in a statement, explained that the incident captured in the footage did not happen in Osun but at Rore/Arandun in Kwara State on August 18.

“The trending video has nothing to do with Osun State. The alleged attack occurred in Kwara. We urge members of the public to disregard the clip and stop spreading unverified information,” he said.

He assured residents that the state remained peaceful, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotam, had ordered the deployment of tactical squads and intelligence operatives to boundary areas to forestall any spillover of insecurity.

“These deployments are part of efforts to fortify security architecture across Osun and reassure our people of our readiness to tackle any threats,” Ojelabi said.

The police called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report suspicious movements to the nearest station.
