The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State chapter, has announced the suspension of the scheduled “I Am Alive” verification exercise for retired judiciary workers with federal entitlements.
In a statement issued by the union’s chairman, Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, after a State Executive Council meeting on Thursday, the union explained that the exercise—initially slated for October 6 and 7, 2025—would not hold due to its ongoing industrial action.
“We regret to inform our members that the ‘I Am Alive’ verification exercise for retired judiciary staff with federal shares will no longer take place as earlier scheduled, owing to the strike,” the statement noted.
Adeniran further urged the Chief Registrar to communicate with officers expected from Abuja not to proceed with the assignment.
The union also disclosed that preparations for the 2026 fiscal year had commenced, with budget committees of the High Court, Customary Court of Appeal, and Judicial Service Commission granted autonomy to begin their work.
In line with strike directives, JUSUN cautioned members against resuming duty without clearance, stressing that workers in sensitive units such as accounts and salaries must stay away from office activities until further notice.
“No financial transaction must be carried out during this industrial action,” Adeniran warned, adding that withdrawals from the accounts of the High Court, Customary Court of Appeal, and Judicial Service Commission would not be tolerated.
The prolonged strike, which has paralysed judicial operations across the state, is deepening concerns among litigants and legal practitioners, with fears that critical administrative processes such as staff verification, budgeting, and case hearings will remain on hold until the standoff is resolved.
