…Condemns Attack on Amotekun Commander, Orders Full Investigation

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has urged traditional rulers in border communities across the state to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious infiltration by alleged bandits from neighbouring states to security agencies.

Speaking after a State Security Council meeting held in Osogbo, the Governor cautioned community leaders against allowing uncontrolled internal migration, citing the recent surge in banditry and insecurity in states bordering Osun.

“This is not the time to allow mass internal migration into Osun communities, especially considering the ongoing banditry crisis in neighbouring states.

“Osun is one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria, and we are determined to sustain that record. We should watch our borders closely—bandits must not be allowed to infiltrate Osun State,” Adeleke warned.

The Governor revealed that the State Security Council had mapped out a comprehensive plan of action to fortify Osun’s borders and prevent the infiltration of criminal elements.

He expressed satisfaction with the proactive steps taken by security agencies and commended their commitment to maintaining peace and stability.

Adeleke particularly praised the Agbooro community in Ikirun and the Akinrun-in-Council for their swift collaboration with security agencies in resolving the recent issue involving Bororo settlers who had encroached on parts of their community.

“I commend the security agencies and the Akinrun-in-Council for their prompt action in ensuring the peaceful evacuation of the settlers. Other border towns should emulate this example by adopting open surveillance and partnering closely with security operatives,” he continued.

In the same breath, the Governor condemned the reported attack on the Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, High Chief Dr. Isaac Omoyele, describing the incident as “unacceptable and a direct threat to the peace and security of the state.”

Adeleke, who expressed deep concern over the assassination attempt, directed the police to launch a thorough investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of all residents, assuring that Osun would remain a safe haven through coordinated intelligence-sharing and strengthened community-based security strategies.
