The Osun State Police Command has arrested twelve suspected members of a notorious cult group across different locations in the state.
The Command also recovered three locally made pistols, two vehicles, an unregistered motorcycle, and several charms from the suspects.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the arrests followed a series of coordinated operations ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, mnips, aimed at flushing out criminal gangs terrorizing communities in the state.
The suspects, identified as Dolapo Abioye (27), Olaoye Tunde (26), Olanrewaju Emmanuel (24), Ganiyu Saheed (25), Ashifat Ishaq (25), Ayoola Sodiq (26), Blessing Olayele (23), Gbadamosi Ibrahim (35) popularly known as “Gbedu,” Kehinde Folashade (28), Oluwasegun Michael (26), Okupe Boluwatife (20), and Kilako Ismail Damilare (22), alias “Killer,” were arrested in Iree, Iragbiji, and Osogbo between October 13 and 19, 2025.
The statement revealed that on October 13, police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit, supported by officers from the Iree Division, responded to a distress call from residents of Kajogbola area, Iree, who reported that armed hoodlums were attacking residents and extorting money.
Five suspects were apprehended at the scene while others were arrested later in a hotel. Exhibits recovered included locally made pistols and live cartridges.
Similarly, on October 14, members of a vigilante group at Oja-Oba, Iragbiji, intercepted two suspects — identified as Oluwasegun Michael and Okupe Boluwatife — who were found in possession of a locally made pistol and an axe.
They reportedly confessed to being members of the Eiye confraternity and admitted fleeing from Iree after a police raid.
In another operation on October 19, police officers arrested 22-year-old Kilako Ismail Damilare, also known as “Killer,” in Akede area, Oke-Baale, Osogbo, following reports of armed men terrorizing residents.
DSP Ojelabi confirmed that investigations were ongoing and that all suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the process.
CP Gotan urged students and young people in the state to shun cultism and other criminal acts capable of ruining their future.
He reiterated that the Osun State Police Command would continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents, warning that “the Command will not spare anyone found involved in such acts.”
