The Honourable Member representing Egbedore, Ejigbo, Ede North and Ede South Federal Constituency, Hon. Bamidele Salam has commissioned two storey school buildings with 8 classrooms in four schools and a major road project in Osun State.
The schools commissioned include Baptist High School Ede, CAC Grammar School Ede, L.A. Secondary School, Ika Ejigbo;
and Ido-Osun High School.
He also commissioned the newly constructed Elerin-Sabo road in Ede.
The commissioning ceremony started with interfaith prayers, where religious leaders showered blessings and prayers on Rep. Salam and the projects.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, commended Rep. Salam for complementing the efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke in infrastructural development.
“While the governor is doing his own part, you can see our Honourable member complementing the effort of the Governor by putting this one up.We have never seen it as good as this.
“My advice to the school management is that they should ensure proper maintenance”, he advised.
In an interview with journalists, Rep. Salam explained his motive behind the initiative, noting that access to quality education remains one of his top priorities.
“I’m so aware you know that this is not the first time. I’ve been a member of the house now for six years. One of the key things I took on upon assumption of office is promotion of education, to ensure that we remarkably improve on the conditions of our schools, we remarkably improve on access to education as well as provision of instrutional materials, classrooms, training for teachers, support for students bodies.
“I’m a very big fan of promoting education because I know how important it is when you provide quality education, you’re giving them the biggest key to liberate them from poverty, from ignorance and disease.
“This is just one of so many things we have done and so many things we have in plan. And I’m so glad to be an instrument in the hand of God”, he stated.
Chairman of the Governing Council, Osun State University, Prof. Wale Oladipo described the projects as “highly impressive and commendable.
“This particular Honourable has performed beyond expectation, this is what Honourables should be doing, I don’t think this constituency has ever had this so good. I’m not disappointed at all”, he said.
Also speaking, the contractor in charge of the road project, Engr. Gabriel Ojo, assured residents of a 10 year warranty, stressing that the company had delivered quality work.
One of the school principals, Mrs. Fajinmi, expressed appreciation to Hon. Bamidele Salam, noting that some of the schools had not seen new buildings and classrooms in the last 10 years.
