The Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, His Imperial Majesty, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III has directed a comprehensive review of the processes governing the conferment of chieftaincy titles across Ijesaland.
The directive, contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Palace Secretary, Mr. Samuel Komolafe, reinforced the monarch’s commitment to ensuring equity, justice, and integrity in all matters concerning the progress and unity of Ijesaland.
According to the statement, the review will particularly focus on titles conferred during the reign of the immediate past Owa Obokun, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II, especially those that were left inconclusive or unresolved.
The Palace specifically mentioned five high chiefs whose titles are to be reviewed:
1. High Chief Ibitoye Adeniyi (Obaala of Ilesa)
2. High Chief Saka Fapohunda (Ogboni of Ilesa)
3. High Chief Omoniyi Ojo Ogunyemi (Lejoka)
4. High Chief Gbenga Igbaroola (Arapate)
5. High Chief Busuyi Onigbogi (Lejofi)
Mr. Komolafe, in the statement, advised the affected High Chiefs to approach the Palace for documentation and to complete the necessary administrative procedures.
The Palace reaffirmed that the exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but to strengthen the traditional institution and preserve the integrity of the chieftaincy system in Ijesaland.
