APC Can’t Rewrite History — Group Defends Gov Adeleke on Ikirun Dispute

The Ijesa PDP Voice, a political advocacy group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what it described as “a calculated campaign of misinformation” regarding the ongoing Obaship dispute in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Gideon Ogungbemi, the group accused the APC of attempting to “deceive the public and discredit” the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke through deliberate distortion of facts.

Ogungbemi noted that it was under the previous APC-led administration that the palace of the Akirun of Ikirun was first locked and fortified with charms on October 29, 2022, before being set ablaze on November 26, 2022, allegedly by individuals connected to that government.

“It is laughable and hypocritical for the APC to twist the truth and shift blame to Governor Adeleke’s administration,” the statement read. “Since assuming office, the Governor has been unwavering in his pursuit of peace, justice, and good governance.”

The Ijesa PDP Voice urged the APC leadership, particularly former government officials, to “caution their unruly media handlers suffering from selective amnesia” and verify facts before publishing misleading claims.

Describing Governor Adeleke as “God-anointed”, the group insisted that no amount of propaganda could erase the “visible transformation and relief” his administration had brought to the people of Osun.

The group subsequently added that “Osun will never return to the hardship, division, and misrule endured under the APC.”
