Governor Ademola Adeleke has moved to calm heightened public anxiety over rising bandit incursions in neighbouring states.

He affirmed that Osun remains secure and that the government is taking sustained measures to prevent any infiltration by criminal elements.

The governor expressed gratitude to residents for their continuing support for his administration, promising uninterrupted delivery of development projects across education, health, infrastructure, technology, agriculture, cooperative initiatives, sports, water supply and overall security.

Addressing recent security concerns, Adeleke revealed that the state has been holding a series of strategic security sessions over the past three weeks aimed at tightening surveillance and strengthening early-warning systems in border communities.

According to him, the ongoing security plan is already in motion with coordinated actions across multiple agencies.

He applauded the commitment of the Commissioner of Police, the State Director of the Department of State Services, military authorities, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security formations, noting that they have been meeting with community leaders in boundary areas to bolster vigilance and ensure rapid response capabilities.

Adeleke further disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, the Chief of Defence Staff and the Commandant-General of the NSCDC have all given special attention to Osun’s security needs.

He urged residents to stay alert and promptly report suspicious movements to security authorities.

“Security operatives have been deployed to sensitive points across the state,” the governor said.

He added that intelligence agencies have comprehensive assessments of potential threats.

He also praised the DSS for recent operations that led to the arrest of high-profile terror suspects and the dismantling of their networks.

“Our security architecture is solid. There is no need for panic. What we require from the public is cooperation and timely information when strange activities are observed. Local hunters, vigilantes and Amotekun personnel are expected to work hand-in-hand with the police to maintain community safety,” he stated.

Adeleke directed Amotekun to intensify collaboration with mainstream security agencies, emphasizing that all operations must follow established protocols to effectively shield the state from criminal attacks.

Speaking on ongoing issues in local government administration, the governor noted that all parties are patiently awaiting the Supreme Court’s pronouncement and reiterated that nobody should resort to self-help.

On the internal challenges within the judiciary, he expressed confidence that the judicial arm would resolve the matter without executive interference.

Despite these tensions, Adeleke assured residents that governance continues uninterrupted, referencing gains in digital economy initiatives, empowerment programmes, workers’ welfare and infrastructure upgrades across various communities.

“I deeply appreciate the unwavering support and prayers from the people of Osun. Your encouragement strengthens our determination to remain focused and continue delivering meaningful governance,” he said.
