Osun 2026: Adeleke Emerges Accord Gubernitorial Candidate
The Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday emerged as the governorship candidate of the Accord Party for the 2026 governorship election.
150 delegates were accredited for the primary, which took place at the OASIS Event Centre, Osogbo, with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, observing the process.
Osun Spring had earlier reportedly that Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday officially joined Accord Party, with all his cabinet members.
Announcing the result of the primary, the Secretary of the electoral committee, Abdulazeez Salaudeen, said five votes were voided, adding that Adeleke polled the remaining 145 valid votes.
“The electoral committee has delivered on its mandate, after voting and counting, witnessed by the agents of the candidate and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
“Having the highest number of votes, I declare Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the primary.”
Whil presenting the certificate of return and handing over the flag to the Governor, the National Chairman of the party, Maxwell Ngbudem, said, “On behalf of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the Accord family, I hereby present the certificate of return to you, Your Excellency, and hand you this flag so that you raise the party flag for us in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.”
In his acceptance speech, Governor Adeleke, said, “It is with a deep sense of appreciation to delegates and almighty God that I accept my nomination and election as the governorship candidate of the Accord for the 2026 governorship elections.
“I convey my heartfelt appreciation to the leadership of our great party and delegates from across the 332 wards of Osun state. The confidence you repose in me is hugely appreciated. I assure you that I will not take it for granted.
“We are today launching the battle for continuity of progress, good governance, and democratic dividends. My candidacy signals the sustenance of the golden movement when the light of development continues to shine across our state. We vow never to relent in the rewarding service to our people”
