Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has revealed that those political actors who attempted to destabilize his administration have failed, stressing that his government’s commitment to completing major infrastructure projects across the state.
Speaking at the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday evening in Osogbo, the governor reviewed the performance of his administration and expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded under his five-point development agenda.
According to the governor, despite what he described as a siege laid against his government, his administration has continued to deliver on its mandate.
“They plotted, but God plotted for us.
“They were surprised that we survived the siege they laid on our government and the people of Osun State. They are still in shock that our government is standing strong”, he said.
The governor maintained that his administration derives its strength from divine support and the mandate freely given by the good people of Osun State.
“We have no power other than the Creator of heaven and earth and the good people of Osun who gave us the mandate to develop the state. Before God and man, we are upholding our oath of office by rebuilding our towns and villages and addressing the needs of our people,” the governor stated.
Adeleke stressed that his administration remains focused solely on delivering development to the people, adding that political distractions would not derail his agenda.
“As governor, I serve only one interest the -aspirations of Osun people for development. In these holy months, we hand over those tormenting Osun people to God to judge between us and them,” he noted.
He further asserted that Osun had escaped the siege of underdevelopment, noting that ongoing efforts were aimed at closing infrastructure gaps and reversing policies he described as anti-people.
While acknowledging existing challenges, the governor expressed confidence that his administration would overcome them with public support.
At the Executive Council meeting, the council deliberated on the implementation of the Osun State Electricity Market Law and directed the Commissioner for Energy to submit a proposal for the establishment of a regulatory commission.
The Council further commended ongoing payroll reforms, which it said had facilitated the seamless deployment of the World Bank-supported State Integrated Financial Management Information System (SIFMIS). It reaffirmed its rejection of the staff audit report submitted by Sally Tibbot.
Meanwhile, the Governor has approved March 1, 2026 as the resumption date for the first batch of newly recruited teachers. The Commissioner for Education was directed to ensure strict compliance with the timeline.
Also, the Commissioner for Finance briefed the council on revenue and taxation matters. The Council subsequently directed the Ministry of Finance and relevant agencies to intensify tax reforms and broaden the state’s revenue base.
The Council also deliberated on traditional council matters. A five-member committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government was constituted to review allegations of encroachment and violations affecting eight paramount rulers in the State, with a mandate to recommend corrective measures.
The governor reiterated that his administration would remain steadfast in its development drive despite political opposition.
