The palace of the Timi of Ede has dismissed claims circulating on social media that the monarch has withdrawn his support for the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke.
The Timi in Council described the allegation as false and a calculated attempt by mischief makers to create tension within the Ede community.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Information and Protocol at Aafin Timi Agbale, Ede, Dapo Akinyele, the council said its attention had been drawn to a video being circulated online by an unidentified woman accusing the royal father of double standards.
The statement said the claim that the monarch had abandoned the political ambition of the Asiwaju of Ede land and incumbent governor was unfounded.
According to the palace, “the purported jettisoning of the ambition of Asiwaju of Ede land and the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, by the Timi of Ede land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr. Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, Laminisa I, is a figment of imagination concocted by some disgruntled elements and agents of fake news who are hell bent on disrupting the peaceful atmosphere currently pervading our domain.”
The council explained that the palace has enjoyed a long standing relationship with the Adeleke family.
It added that since the ascension of Oba Lawal to the throne of his forebears in 2008 during the lifetime of the late Asiwaju of Ede land, Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, the Adeleke dynasty has continued to support the traditional institution in the town.
“The palace has been enjoying tremendous support from the Adeleke dynasty since the assumption of the throne in 2008 during the period of the late Asiwaju of Ede land, Alhaji Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke,” the statement said.
It further noted that the incumbent governor and his siblings, Dr. Tajudeen Adedeji Adeleke and the Yeyeluwa of Ede land, Chief Mrs. Modupe Adeleke Sanni, have remained supportive of the Ede Traditional Council.
The palace also appreciated the sons and daughters of Ede for their continued support for the monarch and the development of the town.
While calling for calm, the council urged politicians across party lines to avoid spreading propaganda capable of heating up the polity.
“Let me appeal to all politicians, irrespective of their political affiliation, to shun any form of propaganda capable of heating up the polity.
We must imbibe the spirit of oneness and join hands together to make the second term of Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke a reality,” the statement added.
