Ramadan/Lent: Osun Lawmaker Distributes Food Items to Constituents

A member of the House of Representatives, Mudashiru Lukman, has distributed food items to thousands of households across his constituency in Osun State as part of efforts to support residents ahead of the fasting seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

The lawmaker, who represents Ayedire/Iwo/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, said the initiative was designed to cushion the effects of economic hardship and ensure that families are able to observe the sacred periods with ease, dignity, and spiritual focus.

Speaking during the distribution exercise held at his residence in Iwo, Hon. Lukman emphasized the importance of compassion, unity, and shared responsibility, especially during periods of religious devotion.

According to him, “Ramadan and Lent are not only periods of fasting but also seasons that call for sacrifice, love, and support for one another. This initiative is a modest effort to stand with my constituents, particularly the vulnerable, so they can observe these sacred obligations without undue hardship.”

The food distribution programme featured the provision of essential household items, including rice, beans, garri, and vegetable oil. Beneficiaries were drawn from various communities within the constituency, with priority given to low-income households, the elderly, and both Muslim and Christian faithful observing the fasting periods.

Residents who benefited from the gesture expressed appreciation to the lawmaker, describing the intervention as timely and impactful amid current economic challenges. Many noted that the support would go a long way in easing the burden of feeding during the fasting and festive season.

Community leaders present at the event also commended Lukman for his continued commitment to the welfare of his constituents, urging other public office holders to emulate such humanitarian efforts.
