Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, yesterday made history as he laid the foundation for Curator University, Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-focused tertiary institution, in Modakeke, Area Office of Osun State.

The project, described as a groundbreaking milestone in Nigeria’s education and technology landscape, positions Osun as the continental hub for innovation, digital transformation, and future-driven learning.

Speaking at the event, Governor Adeleke said the establishment of the university aligns with his administration’s agenda to transform education, empower youth, and prepare Osun for global competitiveness in science and technology.

“This foundation we are laying today is not just for a building; it is for the future of our children, for the prosperity of our state, and for Africa’s place in the global knowledge economy,” the Governor declared to a thunderous ovation.

Curator University is designed to offer cutting-edge programmes in Artificial Intelligence with Machine Learning specialization, Computer Hardware Engineering, Data Analytics, Database Administration, Arbitration and Conflict Resolution, 3D Printing and Polymer Science, among others.

Governor Adeleke stressed that the new institution will not only nurture world-class graduates but will also serve as a catalyst for economic growth, research breakthroughs, and job creation in Osun and beyond.

The university is the brainchild of Mr. Olusola Amusan, who stated that the project was conceived to close Africa’s technological gap and provide a platform for young people to lead in the age of AI.

He commended the Adeleke administration for embracing the initiative and pledged to sustain strong public-private partnership in driving the institution to success.

Traditional rulers and community leaders, led by the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Olubiyi, described the project as a blessing to the land.

They affirm that the institution would place Modakeke and Osun State at the centre of continental development.

Osun has become the first state in Africa to host a dedicated AI university.
