Osun State University (UNIOSUN) is set to roll out the drums as it holds its 15th Convocation ceremonies between September 17 and 24, 2025.

The week-long event will see a total of 2,851 students graduate across different programmes, while the institution will also commission landmark projects to mark the occasion.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, speaking at a pre-convocation press briefing in Osogbo, stated the ceremonies reflect UNIOSUN’s steady rise as a centre of academic excellence.

He explained that the graduates include 2,505 first degrees, one postgraduate diploma, 283 master’s degrees and 62 doctoral degrees.

Among the first-degree awardees, 49 bagged First Class honours, 988 Second Class Upper, 1,279 Second Class Lower, 178 Third Class and one Pass.

The convocation will also witness the commissioning of seven major projects, notably the iconic Senate Building built under TETFund’s High Impact Intervention, the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, a twin 500-seat lecture theatre, another 500-capacity hall, new entrepreneurship equipment, and additional lecture theatres at Okuku and Ifetedo campuses.

Activities lined up include induction ceremonies for graduates in professional fields, Alumni Day, a Jumat Service, a convocation play and a thanksgiving service.

On Tuesday, September 23, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, will deliver the convocation lecture titled “Digital Transformation in Higher Education: Building Skills in Graduates for Global Competitiveness.”

Prof. Adebooye expressed gratitude to Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Governing Council, TETFund and stakeholders, stressing that the university is on track to be ranked among Nigeria’s top 10 universities and Africa’s top 20.

“This 15th Convocation is more than a graduation; it is a coronation of our progress and an affirmation of our vision,” the VC said.
