The management of Westland University, Iwo, Osun State, has announced the appointment of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, as the new Chancellor of the institution.
This was contained in a formal letter dated September 23, 2025, and signed by the Registrar, Mr. Olaosebikan Sunday Olalekan.
The letter was shared by the monarch through his social media on Tuesday.
The university described the monarch’s appointment as a recognition of his exceptional leadership, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to the promotion of quality education and youth development.
According to the letter, Oba Akanbi’s tenure as Chancellor will last for five years.
The appointment, the institution noted, was approved by the Consult of Westland University led by Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Adepoju.
“It is with great honour and respect that I write on behalf of the Consult of Westland University, Iwo, to inform Your Imperial Majesty of your nomination and appointment as the Chancellor of Westland University, Iwo, Osun State, for a term of five (5) years,” the letter partly read.
The university expressed confidence that the Oluwo’s royal guidance would significantly contribute to its continued growth and development.
Oba Akanbi is expected to provide visionary leadership, offer strategic direction, preside over convocation ceremonies, and serve as a key advocate for the university’s interests and partnerships.
“We believe that Your Imperial Majesty’s leadership and dedication to empowering the youth make you an ideal candidate for this position,” the Registrar added.
