The management of the University of Ilesa, Osun State, has dismissed a report making the rounds on social media claiming that its staff have gone unpaid for several months.
The institution said the publication as false, misleading, and malicious.
In a statement signed by Babatunde Fanawopo, Senior Assistant Registrar in the Corporate Service and Information Unit, the institution described the report as a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the young university and undermine the Adeleke-led administration’s commitment to education and human capital development.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the University of Ilesa has been consistent and prompt in the payment of salaries to all duly verified and regularized staff. The State Government, under the purposeful leadership of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has remained steadfast in its support for the University and its workforce,” he said.
The university clarified that newly recruited staff are required to complete documentation, profiling, and biometric verification before being added to the government’s payroll, which is a standard administrative practice in reputable institutions.
Fanawopo noted that the Adeleke administration has demonstrated exceptional transparency and goodwill toward the University.
He cited the regularization of over 400 temporary staff inherited from the defunct Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, as well as the clearance of outstanding allowances prior to the university’s official take-off.
He emphasized that Governor Adeleke’s administration continues to make significant investments in infrastructure, academic growth, and staff welfare at the institution.
“The University of Ilesa remains a beacon of academic rebirth and excellence, not a story of neglect. We urge the public to disregard the unfounded publication aimed at creating distrust and disunity,” Fanawopo added.
