A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress in Osun state has described the defection of Dotun Babayemi and Akin Ogunbiyi into the party as a step that will further divide the party in the state.
The Chieftain also added that all is not well within the party asking people not to believe what some leaders of the party are saying calling a media cover up.
Osun Spring reports that Akin Ogunbiyi was a former gubernatorial aspirant before his defection to Accord Party to obtain the party’s gubernatorial ticket in 2022 while Dotun Babayemi was also a 2022 gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of People’s Democratic party.
Speaking with Osun Spring Correspondent the Chieftain who pleaded anonymity questioned what role the duo are coming to play in the APC adding that they both do not have enough followers as people think they do.
“The news of the defection of Dotun Babayemi and Akin Ogunbiyi should not excite anybody who understands politics, especially Osun politics.
“The question to ask is what’s the role they are coming play in our party, what are they coming to contribute, do we even need them at all to win or they are coming because PDP have rejected them and they need another party to push their ambition.
“And let me tell you, all is not well within our party, all of those denials that some of our leaders were denying the rancour is just a media cover up, they are fighting each other seriously, some for the governorship ticket and some because of the issues that made us lost in 2022.
“We are yet to resolve all of the issues that is affecting the progress of our party and some people think, what is next is to go and bring two politicians rejected by their own party. Is that will help resolve our crisis or even deepen it”, the source said.
