Obokun, Oriade PDP Leaders Slam Senator Fadahunsi, Wole Oke Over Defection to APC Without Consultation

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Obokun and Oriade Local Government Areas of Osun State have come down hard on former PDP stalwarts, Hon. Wole Oke and Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, for what they described as acts of betrayal and provocation against Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke and the ruling party in the state.

The PDP leaders, who rose from a high-level strategic meeting in Ijesa land, issued a strongly worded joint statement condemning the recent verbal outbursts and alleged political sabotage targeted at Governor Adeleke by Hon. Oke, a longtime beneficiary of the PDP platform.

The party leaders noted with deep concern what they termed “unwarranted and provocative actions” by Oke, who recently defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside Senator Fadahunsi, without any form of consultation with the party’s grassroots structure.

“When Hon. Wole Oke joined the PDP, he had little to his name. Through the grace of God and the unflinching support of party members, we stood by him, defended him, and helped elevate him. “It is therefore disheartening to witness him turn around to attack the same platform that gave him relevance,” the statement read.

The PDP chieftains described the defection of the duo as “unilateral, self-serving, and a slap in the face of loyal party members who toiled day and night, sometimes under dangerous conditions, to ensure their electoral success.”

They issued a stern warning to Oke to desist from further political provocation, cautioning that “no one has the monopoly of confrontation.”

In a pointed rebuke, the party leaders declared that the political mandates previously held by the defectors rightly belong to the PDP and its loyal members. They vowed to pursue all legal means necessary to reclaim what they described as the “people’s mandate” and restore integrity to the democratic process in the affected constituencies.

“Let no one be deceived — the people who delivered victory to PDP at the grassroots are still here, and we are more united than ever in our resolve to support the Governor and protect our party,” the statement added.

Reaffirming their steadfast support for Governor Adeleke’s administration, the PDP leaders in Obokun and Oriade emphasized their continued commitment to delivering good governance and democratic dividends to the people.

“We stand firm with His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke. We are the real politicians on the ground, tested, trusted, and deeply rooted. Let it be known: any attempt to destabilize the PDP in Ijesa land will be met with strong and lawful resistance.”

The statement was jointly signed by the party leadership across the two local government areas, further solidifying the grassroots bulwark behind the Adeleke administration as it continues to consolidate gains in governance and party cohesion.
