The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to its members and supporters to remain calm and resolute following Friday’s court ruling restraining the party from proceeding with its planned national convention.
In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, the party assured that the judgment has no bearing on the smooth conduct of its administrative or political operations, either at the national or state level.
“The said court decision in no way impedes the smooth running of the PDP’s administrative or political activities, either at the national or state level,” the statement noted.
Hon. Bisi further assured party members that all ongoing political processes, particularly those relating to the nomination procedures for the Osun State governorship ticket, remain firmly on track. He confirmed that Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, who is seeking re-election, has duly obtained his nomination forms and successfully appeared before the screening panel constituted by the national leadership of the PDP.
“All subsequent stages of the process will proceed seamlessly and in strict compliance with the PDP’s established guidelines,” he said.
The Osun PDP also emphasized that the party’s national leadership has taken proactive legal and administrative steps to address the court’s pronouncement, describing the situation as “well under control.”
“The recent court development is being handled with the maturity and institutional experience for which the PDP is known,” Bisi added. “Our national leadership has already initiated appropriate legal and administrative measures to address the matter without delay.”
The party urged its members, supporters, and stakeholders across Osun to sustain mobilisation efforts and deepen grassroots engagement ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election, expressing optimism of a landslide victory at the polls.
“With unity, discipline, and faith in due process, the PDP will continue to stand as the true symbol of democracy, stability, and good governance in Osun State and across Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
