Journalists in Osun State have applauded the giant strides under the Adeleke-led administration. The Osun State media family gathered for a special anniversary media briefing today, where the Chairman of the Midterm Anniversary Committee, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, extended a warm welcome to members of the press, acknowledging their unwavering support since the assumption of office by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The briefing, held in anticipation of the Governor’s two-year anniversary, saw prominent media figures, including the Chairman of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, Chairman of the NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel, Shina Abubakar, and Hameed Oyegbade from Daily Trust Newspaper, among others, offer high praise for the Governor’s transformative leadership.
While speaking, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu highlighted Governor Adeleke’s remarkable achievements in just under two years in office. Ajadosu, a seasoned journalist, lauded the Governor for his visionary leadership and the tangible progress the state has experienced. He remarked that Governor Adeleke, within a short time, has demonstrated the true essence of leadership with his commitment to transforming Osun State.
The NUJ Chairman also emphasized the crucial role of the media in holding the government accountable while applauding the Governor’s openness to public scrutiny. He expressed that under Governor Adeleke, Osun State had become a model for good governance in the southwest, and the media had been a crucial ally in ensuring that the government remained transparent and responsive to the needs of the people.
Joining in the praise, Hameed Oyegbade, a journalist with Daily Trust Newspaper, expressed his admiration for the Governor’s accomplishments, which he said far exceeded his expectations. He noted that when Governor Adeleke took office, many were skeptical about the pace of development in Osun State. However, what emerged was not just a continuation of governance but an accelerated effort to uplift the state.
The Chairman of the anniversary committee, who is also the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye, expressed his gratitude to the media for their continuous support, describing them as vital partners in the success of Governor Adeleke’s administration. He thanked the media for providing both constructive criticism and praise, stressing that their role as the fourth estate had helped shape the direction of the government and kept it on track to achieve its goals.
“We are here today not just to announce the achievements of the last two years but also to say thank you to all of you in the media who have supported us. From the very beginning, you have been our partners, offering us your honest feedback and serving as our mirror to reflect on how well we are serving the people,” Igbalaye said.
He also shared the exciting news that, over the next few weeks, Osun State would be hosting a series of events to mark the two-year anniversary of Governor Adeleke’s administration. From commissioning infrastructure projects to unveiling new development programs, the state is poised to showcase the tremendous progress made under the Governor’s leadership. The planned celebrations, which will run through late December, aim to highlight the state’s achievements and outline the vision for the future.
The SSG reaffirmed that Governor Adeleke’s administration had delivered on its promises and that the next two years would focus on consolidating gains and pushing for more infrastructural development, job creation, and improved welfare for all citizens of Osun State.
