A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Ambassador Rt. Hon. Rafiu Adejare Bello, has commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for prioritising workers’ welfare through the payment of minimum wage and other pro-labour policies.

He stated this while featuring on TVC Programme where Osun 2026 Gubernatorial Election was discussed.

Bello, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly (2003–2007) and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Mexico (2021–2023), noted that civil servants in the state are appreciative of Adeleke’s approach to governance.

“Civil servants are very happy with him (Governor Adeleke) because he is paying the minimum wage. The salary table they adopted in Osun State is regarded as one of the best in the South-West,” Bello said.

He further acknowledged the governor’s efforts in offsetting salary arrears inherited from past administrations.

According to him, “Governor Adeleke is also paying part of what former Governor Aregbesola and the APC government owed workers. That is about 32 months backlog, and he has already cleared between 11 and 13 months, based on what civil servants confirmed.”

The APC stalwart stressed that beyond politics, governance should focus on the welfare of the people, adding that Adeleke’s workers-friendly policies deserve commendation.
