The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has honoured Assistant Route Commander Babatunde Owoeye of the Osun State Sector Command for rejecting bribes from traffic offenders 104 times in July 2025.
Owoeye, who had earlier turned down bribes 18 times in May and 38 times in June, was presented with a Management Commendation Letter and a cash reward of ₦250,000 by the Corps.
Speaking during the presentation on Wednesday, Osun State Sector Commander, Mr. Leye Adegboyega, said the recognition was a testament to FRSC’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, a principle consistently championed by the Corps Marshal, Sheu Mohammed.
He noted that Owoeye’s feat was the first of its kind in the Command’s history, describing it as a shining example of integrity and professionalism.
“The young officer distinguished himself by refusing inducements from offenders who attempted to corrupt him. His consistency from May to July prompted the Osun Command to notify our National Headquarters in Abuja, which attracted the Corps Marshal’s special acknowledgement and reward,” Adegboyega said.
On behalf of the Zonal Commanding Officer RS11 (Osun, Ondo, and Oyo States), Assistant Corps Marshal Ibrahim Abubakar, Adegboyega urged personnel to emulate Owoeye and uphold the image of the Corps.
He also warned motorists against offering bribes to road marshals, disclosing that the FRSC will soon begin prosecuting offenders caught in the act, in addition to imposing a ₦10,000 surcharge on their original violation.
