A resident of Otan-Ile, identified as Tope Olajide, has reportedly taken his own life following a disagreement with his wife.
The tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning at Otan-Ile, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.
Confirming the development yesterday (Friday), the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, said the deceased, popularly called Meco, was found dead after neighbours raised an alarm.
According to Adeleke, preliminary information suggested that Olajide had a quarrel with his wife on Wednesday night.
However, the actual reason behind his decision to end his life has not yet been determined.
She added that the State Commandant, CC Igbalawole Sotiyo, has advised couples and individuals battling emotional or marital problems to seek help from the NSCDC’s Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit.
“The unit has handled several disputes and provided counselling to troubled individuals. Nobody should see suicide as an option, because every life is precious and cannot be replaced,” she stressed.
