The member representing Odo-Otin/Ifelodun/Boripe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Soji Adetunji, has unveiled his two-year scorecard, highlighting a string of empowerment initiatives, infrastructural projects, and legislative contributions aimed at uplifting the lives of his constituents.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Oluwasegun Taiwo, Adetunji outlined his interventions across critical sectors including education, health, agriculture, security, and social welfare.
Empowerment and Welfare
According to the report, the lawmaker has consistently distributed rice to households in the constituency, with 500 bags shared in December 2023 and January 2024, and 600 bags in December 2024.
He also launched a maiden empowerment programme of N10 million in March 2024 to support victims of electoral violence, and another N150 million empowerment scheme in June 2024 for hundreds of beneficiaries.
Skills acquisition and agriculture were also prioritized, with 100 youths and women trained in soap making and given N50,000 cash grants, while 400 others benefited from fish farming training, fingerlings, feeds, and cash support.
Infrastructure and Community Projects
Adetunji facilitated the installation of over 1,200 solar-powered streetlights across the three local governments.
He also sponsored classroom projects including blocks of classrooms at Saviours Primary School, Ikirun; Community High School, Obaagun; Nomadic Primary School, Isale Oyo, Iragbiji; and St. Mary’s Anglican Primary School, Igbaye.
Water supply interventions included solar-powered boreholes at locations in Ikirun such as Saviours Cathedral, Eweta area, Odo Eran area, and Oke Obaagun. Health facilities also received attention, with the renovation of Aiyekale Health Centre in Iragbiji and the provision of drugs and consumables.
Education and Scholarships
In furthering access to education, Adetunji procured UTME forms for indigent candidates in the constituency and secured 50 percent scholarships for 300 students at the Ikirun College of Health Technology.
Agriculture and Social Responsibility
Farmers received 10,000 hybrid cocoa seedlings and bags of NPK fertilizer to boost food production.
He also donated a new 7-seater wagon car to the Nigeria Automobile Technicians Association (NATA), Ifelodun branch.
Security Interventions
The lawmaker donated a bus to the vigilante group in Ikirun to enhance community security and complement government’s efforts in tackling insecurity.
Legislative Contributions
On the floor of the House, Adetunji sponsored and co-sponsored several bills, including the Federal Medical Centre Ikirun Bill, the Federal College of Agriculture Ikirun Bill, and the South West Development Commission Bill.
Others include amendments to the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act, and a bill mandating quarterly public accountability sessions by ministers.
Motions
He has also moved several motions on issues of national importance, such as urgent security measures against bank robberies in his constituency, food insecurity, rising cooking gas prices, revitalization of cocoa production, and increased funding for education.
