The Chairman of the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has fired back at the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, describing the opposition party as a “noisome barrel” sustained by propaganda and political stalking.
In a statement on Thursday, the labour leader dismissed allegations that he lodges in hotels and moves around with armed escorts.
He argued that such claims could only come from those “trailing his movements.”
“You could only know my whereabouts and routines if I were being watched and tailed all the time. I don’t believe people are stalked because they are expected to win a lottery. This is clear political hounding,” he said.
The NLC boss also reacted sharply to insinuations about his personal lifestyle, rejecting claims of “frolicking with women of easy virtues.”
He accused the APC of attempting to paint public places like hotels and restaurants in scandalous light.
“Painting innocuous and infrequent events as monstrosities provides a glimpse into the odious mindset of these rabid political vipers masquerading as humans,” he retorted.
He further dared the APC to provide evidence that he benefited from the immediate past administration or collected funds from political actors, insisting that only verifiable proof could validate such allegations.
The labour leader maintained that safeguarding lives and property remained paramount before workers could resume duty while reacting to the lingering dispute involving the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
“Is that the new name for choosing the path of life and peace?” “If we all engage in political tantrums and violence, who will be left at work?”
Accusing the APC of politicising the matter, he noted that their agitation for an early resumption was not in the interest of workers but motivated by partisan calculations.
Turning to the broader political landscape, the NLC Chair declared that the APC in Osun had become synonymous with “lies, plots, defamation, and misrepresentation of the truth.”
He predicted that the party would suffer another rejection at the polls.
“Why not face the reality that Osun workers, pensioners, and the masses have rejected you? The time for storytelling is far gone. The right time when we will engage you for the whole world to see is around the corner,” he warned.
The NLC boss urged the APC to focus less on Governor Ademola Adeleke and himself, and more on its future ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
“The good people of Osun will still insist on no more tyranny come 2026,” he concluded.
