Osun Amotekun Denies Deploying 50 Operatives to Ondo Power Plant

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The Osun Amotekun Corps has denied allegations that it deployed 50 of its operatives to a power plant owned by businessman Dr. Deji Adeleke in Ondo State, describing the claim as false, malicious and politically motivated.

The denial was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, who said the allegations lacked any factual basis and were aimed at dragging the security outfit into partisan politics.

According to the statement, the Corps remains a professional security institution established by law to protect lives and property across Osun State and does not engage in political activities.
“The allegation is entirely false, baseless, misleading and incapable of withstanding any objective scrutiny. There is no truth whatsoever in the claims being circulated,” the statement said.

Abass said the Corps had no operational involvement with any private business entity and had never deployed personnel to any power plant in Ondo State.

He further stated that officers reportedly mentioned in connection with the allegation were carrying out their official duties at the Corps headquarters in Osogbo and other locations within Osun State.

“At no time were such operatives deployed to Ondo State for any assignment related to the power plant as alleged,” he said.

The spokesperson maintained that all personnel remained on active duty within Osun State during the period under reference, adding that the claim that 50 operatives were mobilised outside the state was completely fabricated.

The Corps also dismissed reports that one of its officers was involved in a motorcycle accident while allegedly travelling to Ondo State.

“The allegation is false and fictitious. No such incident occurred, and no officer of the Corps was involved in any accident connected to the fabricated deployment story,” the statement added.

Osun Amotekun urged members of the public to disregard the allegations, describing them as a misinformation campaign intended to tarnish the image of the security outfit.

“The Corps remains committed to its statutory mandate of safeguarding lives and property without fear, favour or political consideration. We will not allow ourselves to be distracted from our constitutional responsibilities by unfounded accusations or campaigns designed to undermine public confidence in our operations,” the statement said.

The security outfit reiterated its commitment to neutrality and professionalism, stressing that it belongs to the people of Osun State and would continue to discharge its duties in accordance with the law.
It also appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting and cooperating with its personnel in the collective effort to maintain peace, security and stability across Osun State.
