NANS JCC Osun Distances Self from Alleged Governorship Endorsement, Commends Adeleke’s Performance

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Osun Axis, has distanced itself from a statement circulating in the public space claiming that students across Osun State have collectively endorsed a candidate ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

The association, in a statement signed by its Caretaker Chairman, Comrade Olawole Sheriffdeen Abolaji, described the publication as the personal opinion of its author and not the official position of the organized student body in the state.

“We wish to categorically state that the said statement does not represent the position of NANS JCC Osun Axis, nor does it reflect the official views or collective decision of the teeming students in tertiary institutions across Osun State,” the statement read.

According to the association, the publication should not be misconstrued as the voice of students in Osun State, urging members of the public, political stakeholders and the media to disregard any attempt to portray it as such.

“The publication remains the personal opinion of its author and should not be misconstrued as the position of the organized student body in the state,” it added.

While clarifying that it has not issued any formal endorsement ahead of the election, NANS JCC Osun Axis acknowledged what it described as the remarkable achievements of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration in key sectors.

The association noted that students across tertiary institutions in the state remain appreciative of the government’s interventions in education, infrastructure development, youth empowerment and inclusive governance.

“The overwhelming sentiment across campuses in the state is one of confidence in the administration’s delivery of democratic dividends and commitment to the welfare of students and young people,” the statement said.

It further observed that many students are supportive of the continuation of the governor’s developmental programmes beyond 2026, expressing the belief that sustained progress and development are best achieved through continuity in leadership.

Consequently, the student body reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of students, promoting constructive engagement with government and other stakeholders, and ensuring that the voices of students are represented responsibly and truthfully at all times.

NANS JCC Osun Axis also urged the public to rely on official communications from the association on matters relating to its position and activities.
