Former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Phillip Adegboyega Famodun III, has died.

The deceased, who had faced a series of political and traditional controversies in recent years, was reported to have passed away after a brief illness.

News of his death first surfaced on social media, as APC chieftain and former aide to ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, Jamiu Olawumi, posted a brief reaction describing the development as “shocking,” accompanied by his photograph.

An Osogbo-based radio station, Redio Afinju, also circulated the report on its platform.

Although an official statement from the family is yet to be released, prominent individuals have begun to express their condolences.

Among them is the retired Osun Amotekun Commander, Brigadier General Biodun Bashir Adewinmbi, who issued a heartfelt tribute mourning the traditional ruler.

In his message, he described Famodun as a courageous political figure, a respected custodian of Yoruba heritage, and a leader whose contribution to peace and development in Igbajo will be remembered for generations.

Brig. Gen. Adewinmbi noted that the late community leader lived a life marked by dignity, humility, and dedication to communal progress, urging the people of Igbajo to uphold the values and unity he championed throughout his reign.

He offered prayers for the repose of Oba Famodun’s soul and comfort for the entire community during this period of grief.
