Ghana President, Remi Tinubu, Obasanjo, Jonathan, Others to Grace Ooni's 10th Anniversary, Tomorrow

The President of Ghana, John Mahama, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, and other top dignitaries are expected to attend the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

The week-long celebration, which marks a decade of Oba Ogunwusi’s reign on the throne of Oduduwa, is slated to feature a series of cultural, traditional, economic, and developmental engagements aimed at showcasing the rich heritage of the Yoruba race and reinforcing unity across Africa.

Speaking at the turning of sord of the Ojaja University, Ile-Ife campus on Sunday, Ooni Ogunwusi stressed that the anniversary will attract traditional rulers, governors, business moguls, diplomats, and cultural enthusiasts from within and outside Nigeria, who will join him in celebrating the 10 years of his accession to the sacred throne.

Since his ascension to the throne in 2015, Oba Ogunwusi has been widely acknowledged for redefining traditional leadership through youth empowerment, promotion of tourism, peace-building initiatives, and international diplomacy.

In his words, “Today we are all here gathered, it’s a day of appreciation for me, a day of honor for me, I want to thank all of you who have made an impact in my life, for coming this far.

“Tomorrow am expecting another very important guest, a motherly figure to me, who has been very supportive the way you all have been, for the last 10 years. She said she will leave everything she is doing ti come to Ife tomorrow, and that person is the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

“Also, the President of Ghana, and also my other Babas have confirmed that they will be here physically, former President Obasanjo and former President Jonathan, so it’s a big preparation, they are coming to celebrate with me, for me it’s a selfless life. I want to thank all of you for the support.”
