Osun 2026: Adeleke Urges Corps Members to be neutral, non-partisan

Ahead of August 15th 2026 Osun State Governorship election, Governor Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday urged members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to remain neutral and uphold the principles of non- partisanship in the discharge of their electoral duties.
Speaking, while addressing 3,000 newly deployed Corps members at the swearing-in and official opening of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ stream II orientation programme, Adeleke noted that Corps Members must be committed to rules that guiding their services.
According to him, As you may be aware, Osun State will be approaching a significant democratic exercise with the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled For August. While this period is important in our democratic journey, I charge you all to remain law-abiding, neutral, and committed to the rules that guiding your service.
” The NYSC Scheme is non-partisan institution, and you are expeted to conduct yourselves in a manner that reflects discipline, responsibility, and respect for the constituted authority.”
Adeleke equally assured Corps Members of adequate security, vowing to collaborate with security agencies to ensure a safe and conducive environment throughout their stay in Osun State.
Earlier, the Osun state coordinator of NYSC, Ekeng Ita Kubaingha, disclosed that a total 2600 corps members were deployed to the state.
He informed the corps members that ahead of Osun guber poll, saying ” you may be called upon to serve as adhoc personnel in the electoral process.
While this is a noble national assignment, you are expeted to remain neutral, professional, and law-abiding at all times.”
He warned that ” you must not engage in partisan politics or any activity that could compromise the integrity of the electoral process or your personal safety.”
Kubaingha admonished the newly deployed Corps members to embrace orientation course to acquire enterpreneurship skills.
