Adeleke’s Aide Dismisses Omowaiye’s Claims as Pack of Lies

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The spokesperson to Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, has dismissed criticisms by Mr. Remi Omowaiye, describing them as “a pack of lies” and lacking factual basis.

In a statement, Rasheed said the allegations against the Adeleke administration were “fraught with fake news,” insisting that the claims misrepresented the true state of affairs in Osun.

He rejected accusations of financial mismanagement, maintaining that government funds have been judiciously utilised on projects and programmes that have earned recognition both within and outside the state.

Rasheed also faulted Omowaiye’s assertion that Osun lacks an electricity law, stating that “the law is already in operation in Osun State.”

He added that the administration’s industrialisation agenda is on course, pointing to the revival of Free Trade Zones allegedly abandoned by the previous All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
Defending the construction of the Okefia flyover, the governor’s aide said the project aligns with “local and international engineering standards.”

He, however, criticised the Olaiya Bridge project, which he said was supervised by Omowaiye, alleging that it has been identified as defective and requires proper load management.
On the issue of contractors, Rasheed said those handling government projects are publicly known and have delivered quality work across key locations.

He accused Omowaiye of “waging war against local content and local contractors who have delivered excellent jobs at Okefia, Lameco and other critical state projects.”

Speaking on security votes, Rasheed stated that the Adeleke administration has not treated such funds as slush money.

“Security votes are only drawn to meet the needs of security agencies and to fund operations aimed at addressing communal crises,” he said.

He further challenged Omowaiye to focus on facts in his public engagements.

“We challenge Omowaiye to run a fact-based campaign. His statements at the Correspondents’ Chapel were laced with lies and half truths,” Rasheed said.

Rasheed added that the administration’s performance speaks for itself. “We affirm that, based on his failure at the Osun Investment Agency, the Ministry of Finance and the National Inland Waterways Authority, Mr. Oyebamiji is not an alternative to a performing incumbent,” he said.

“Governor Adeleke has moved Osun from 33rd to 7th position in education ranking, to first in primary healthcare access, and to fifth in access to potable water among the 36 states of the federation,” he added.
