Adeleke’s Performance Exposes Oyetola’s Tenure as Waste — TICC

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has said the performance of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has exposed what it described as the shortcomings of the immediate past administration led by former governor Gboyega Oyetola.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the council said the achievements recorded by the Adeleke administration across key sectors have revealed the previous government as “a wasted opportunity” for the state.

“It is clear, and widely acknowledged by well meaning people of Osun State, that across all sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, workers’ welfare and fiscal discipline, the Adeleke administration has delivered visible and measurable results within a short period,” the statement read.

The council contrasted this with the Oyetola administration, which it alleged was marked by limited infrastructure development, neglect of the health sector and policies that placed workers and pensioners under hardship, including the payment of half salaries.

“It is therefore not surprising that members of the Osun APC now struggle to dissociate themselves from that record. The APC of today remains the APC of yesterday, with the same structure, the same actors and the same philosophy. Their failure is collective and cannot be erased by political rebranding,” Olajengbesi stated.

The council further argued that the emergence of Bola Oyebamiji does not represent a new direction for the party, describing it instead as a continuation of the previous administration’s policies.

“The emergence of Bola Oyebamiji does not represent a new direction.
It is a continuation of that same failed order. His candidacy, widely perceived as imposed, coupled with the repetition of Oyetola’s manifesto and his clear intention to continue the same style of governance, confirms that the Osun APC has no fresh ideas to offer,” the statement added.

TICC also pointed to what it described as internal challenges within the opposition party, including imposition during primaries, the sidelining of respected leaders and disregard for civil servants.

“The internal contradictions within the party, including imposition in primaries, the sidelining of respected leaders, reckless statements and disregard for civil servants, have further weakened its credibility,” Olajengbesi said.

The council maintained that performance, rather than political rhetoric, should guide public judgment.

“It is therefore our considered position that the noise of lies from the Osun APC cannot substitute for performance. The ideas they now pretend to promote were absent when they had the opportunity to govern,” the statement noted.

The council concluded that residents of the state would reject what it described as a backward agenda.

“The people of Osun have seen the difference. They have experienced purposeful governance and will not return to the past. Oyebamiji’s agenda represents a backward step and it will be rejected decisively at the polls,” the statement concluded.
