NAOSS Reaffirms Support for Adeleke’s Re-election

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

The National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) on Tuesday declared its support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship poll.

The position was made known during a courtesy visit by the association’s leadership to the office of the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

Speaking during the visit, NAOSS President, Comrade Ajibola Lateef Folajimmy, commended the governor for prioritising students’ welfare, particularly the provision of buses to ease transportation within and outside the state.

He also praised the ongoing bursary registration initiative, describing it as a significant relief for students, while appealing to the state government to assist the association in securing a secretariat and accommodation facility, to be known as the NAOSS House.

“We appreciate the governor for approving the bursary registration process. We are also using this opportunity to request a NAOSS House in the state capital, which will serve as both a secretariat and accommodation for students who come into the state for official assignments,” he said.

Ajibola further urged the government to consider expanding its scholarship scheme to include opportunities for students to study abroad.

He disclosed that the association would soon roll out an advocacy programme across the nine federal constituencies in the state, aimed at promoting civic awareness and participation among young people.

“We are planning advocacy projects, including a student electioneering summit, civic education campaigns and enlightenment programmes to educate people on the importance of voting, why they should vote and who to vote for,” he added.

In his response, the Governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, commended the students for their consistent support for the Adeleke administration and encouraged them to sustain the momentum ahead of the election.

“I commend you for your unwavering support for this administration.
I urge you to continue to canvass and mobilise support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election in the interest of the state’s continued progress,” he said.

Rasheed added that the growing support for the governor’s second term bid reflects the will of the people, noting that residents of the state are appreciative of the administration’s investments in human capital development and infrastructure.

“Osun people are the ones clamouring for the governor’s re-election because of the visible impact of his policies and programmes across the state,” he stated.
