EFCC Probe Allegation Against Me Is False — Ex-Osun SUBEB Chairman

By Waliu Adetokun, Osogbo

Former Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Fadipe Ibukun Ishola, has dismissed reports alleging that he is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged financial mismanagement during his time in office.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ishola described the allegation as false, malicious and politically motivated, insisting that he had never been invited, questioned or investigated by the EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), or any anti-graft agency.

“My attention has been drawn to a malicious and politically motivated publication alleging that I am under investigation by the EFCC over purported financial mismanagement during my tenure as Executive Chairman of Osun SUBEB,” he said.

“I wish to categorically, clearly and unequivocally state that at no time have I been served any invitation letter, queried, interrogated or investigated by the EFCC, ICPC or any anti-corruption agency over allegations of fraud, misappropriation or mismanagement of public funds.”

The former SUBEB chairman described the report as “entirely false, baseless and misleading,” alleging that it was orchestrated by political opponents to tarnish his image and distract the people of Osun East Senatorial District.

According to him, he resigned from office voluntarily and honourably to pursue his senatorial ambition for Osun East Senatorial District, stressing that all projects and financial commitments executed during his tenure followed due process and government regulations.

“Throughout my service as SUBEB Chairman, I discharged my responsibilities with utmost transparency, accountability, diligence and fear of God,” he stated.

“Every project executed and every public fund committed under my leadership followed due process and government regulations.”

Ishola also highlighted his previous service as Executive Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government in 2008 under the administration of former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, saying he left behind a legacy of responsible leadership and developmental achievements.

He urged members of the Accord party, his supporters and residents of Osun East to disregard what he called “concocted lies” being spread by “agents of political bitterness and insecurity.”
“No amount of blackmail, propaganda or sponsored falsehood can erase years of proven service, integrity and grassroots connection with the people,” he added.

The former SUBEB chairman further called for unity among party stakeholders and fellow aspirants, saying he remained committed to issue based politics and the development of Osun East Senatorial District.

“Truth does not fear propaganda. Character cannot be destroyed by lies,” he said.
