Association of Yoruba Scholars Honours UNIOSUN Don with Award of Excellence

The Association of Yoruba Language Scholars (ASSYLAS) has honoured the Provost of the Postgraduate College, Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Professor Oguntola Jelil Alamu, with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and promotion of Yoruba language and culture.

The award was presented during the Association’s conference held at the Federal College of Education, Iwo, on Tuesday, 7 July 2026.

In a statement following the honour, Professor Alamu expressed profound appreciation to the management of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, the Dean of the School of Languages, the Head of the Department of Yoruba, as well as the Chairman and members of the Local Organising Committee of the conference for the recognition.

The Provost of the Postgraduate College at Osun State University reaffirmed his commitment to advancing scholarship in Yoruba language and promoting the preservation of the rich Yoruba cultural heritage. He also expressed his readiness to strengthen academic collaboration with the Federal College of Education, Iwo, in pursuit of shared educational and research objectives.

Professor Alamu further congratulates the Association of Yoruba Language Scholars (ASSYLAS), also known as Ẹgbẹ́ Ọmọ̀ràn Èdè Yorùbá, for organising a successful and impactful conference, while wishing the association continued growth and greater accomplishments in its efforts to promote Yoruba language, culture and scholarship.
